Back to where we left off four years ago! We stopped in Tineo on the way here, pleasant too. Ate at Restaurant Tineo. Same nice owner.
At a quarter to eight am we were on our way. There were a lot of pilgrims at the hotel but it was not noticeable for the first 10 kilometers, we mostly walked by ourselves. Nice paths in the forest, lots of shade. It got steeper as we approached the top, Puerto de Palo, 1146 meters above sea level. It was windy and cold there. We tried to shelter from the wind behind the winter shelter and ate a little. Then we started to go down the other side of the mountain.
We ate our takeaway lunch in Montefurado. On the way to Berducedo, Linda fell. She was helped by two young Germans women. We drank a beer in Berducedo. Then we went to La Mesa. It was the last time we could see the path that goes down from Puerto de Pola, at least 10 kilometers away.
We arrived at 4:30 pm. It was nice to finally get some rest. It has gone well considering that it was the first time we hiked since 2021. It was 23 kilometers. Then we didn’t go out, just down to the dining room. There we met a funny Englishman who had walked over 30 kilometers and arrived at 8 pm. He was very tired and sat down with us and told us about his adventures.
