Helette

What a day! Said goodbye to Julien, Gaël and Inès and left at 8. Left the path to Saint-Jean soon after. It went crazy right away. I realized I was going the wrong way so I took out my phone which helped me back on the right path. It started raining.

Then it got worse. I followed the right path but was probably on private land. I fell in the mud. Luckily, nobody noticed me walking by. No barking animals or dogs.

It continued to rain. Arrived in Helette before 3 pm. Didn’t look like the pictures online. Not a soul. The desert. Went to the town hall. They had noted my booking, but never confirmed it.

Sad to be alone after all the evenings since Cahors. I slept a little. At the town hall they had recommended a restaurant that had a menu for pilgrims. It was an ok four-course meal. The soup was especially good.

Watched some young people playing pelote. The wall is in the middle of the village.
