To Fischerhude

I don’t know if it was a self-fulfilling prophecy, but it was a terrible day, as expected… I knew it would be long. On the other hand, it was not as long as the stage to Randsburg.

Everything was wet when I started this morning. It felt like there was water in the air! It remained that way until lunch, and it was not very warm. There was no camping in Otterberg, so I continued to Fischerhude, an old artist village with a museum, galleries, bookshops, and more.

I had found a gasthaus on the web, but it was closed on Wednesdays. It was already past 5 pm when I arrived, so I asked at the post office if they knew where I could sleep. They gave me the address of a bed and breakfast where I got a whole apartment to myself for €30. It was a suite! This could be an alternative to carrying the tent.

I’m very tired tonight. It will be nice to sleep in a warm place. I’ve found that the moisture in the tent comes from condensation, not from humidity coming through the floor where I’ve put heavy things. Maybe I need a better tent. At least I’m happy with my little mattress; it protects me well.

Now the sun is shining.
